ADMISSIONS


Admissions to South Country Treatment Centre can be made Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. by calling 1(403)-329-6603 or by completing the admissions form as provided. To make a referral to South Country Treatment Centre; an individual, family member, or professional can call the Admissions Department and speak to our Admissions Secretary.

You must be at least 5 days clean, sober and gambling free prior to your admission date, otherwise, admittance will be denied. This includes any disallowed medications as indicated below. At any time during treatment, including upon admission, South Country Treatment Centre reserves the right to do random drug testing of clients.

UNACCEPTABLE MEDICATIONS

If you are unsure of any medications, please contact our Program Secretary. For at least 5 days prior to admission DO NOT TAKE ANY OF THE LISTED MEDICATIONS.

 
Librium, Valium, Serax, Ativan, Xanax, Buspar, etc
Lunesta, Ambien, Halcion, Restoril, Imovane, etc
Any diet pills or supplements
Any type of drug containing codeine or any type of mood altering substance
Any anti-nausea medication
Any allergy medications (except Allertin)
Any muscle relaxants (Flexeril, Robaxicet, Robaxisal)

THINGS TO BRING

Clothing:

Bring clothing that is comfortable, casual and adequate for the season. This includes items such as pajamas, lightweight robe, slippers, running shoes and/or comfortable shoes. Clients will not be permitted to wear clothing perceived as revealing, tight or in any way inappropriate for the treatment setting. A form of sleepwear is mandatory. T-shirts depicting violence or advertising in the form of alcohol, drug or gambling activities will not be permitted.

Toiletries:

Toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, deodorant, contact lens solutions, feminine hygiene products etc. Unscented/alcohol free hair products and mouth wash only.

Money:


Any money brought in by clients will be their responsibility and South Country Treatment Centre will not lock up money on the client’s behalf. The only money you may require should be for on weekends and miscellaneous items such as tobacco products, calling cards, etc.

Medications:

If you are unsure of any medications please contact our Program Secretary. 
All medications must be bubble packed or admission will be denied.

Smoking:

South Country Treatment Centre is a non-smoking facility. We do have a smoking facility outside the building for client use. Make sure you bring enough cigarettes to last until Tuesday evening.

Miscellaneous:

Towels/face cloths, high efficiency liquid laundry soap, fabric sheet softeners, 3 inch 3 ring binder and a calling card for the Telus payphones.
 

DO NOT BRING:

Over the counter medications, disallowed prescription medications, power or herbal drinks, vitamins, diet supplements and no flavored coffee creamers.

Scented products such as perfumes, colognes and body sprays.

Weapons of any kind – including pocketknives, blades, etc

Clothing promoting any type of alcohol, drug or gambling.

Electronics, ie. Cell phones, televisions, cameras, computers, pagers, musical instruments, video games, DVD’s, CD’s, radios, CD players, Ipods, MP3 players

Offensive/pornographic magazines or offensive music (no profanity)

Work related to your profession such as reports, projects and papers.
 
MAIN ADMISSION CRITERIA:

18 years of age or older

Willing to participate in group oriented residential treatment

Ability to participate in all areas of programming

Abstinent from alcohol, drugs and gambling for a minimum of 5 days prior to their admission date

Complete and submit an admission form, undergo a telephone interview, receive a book date and confirm 10 days prior to admission

Individuals with severe mental health issues (i.e. schizophrenia) will be referred to Alberta Health Services, Addiction & Mental Health.

South Country Treatment Centre reserves the right to request a mental health assessment.
